Too many photos of Emily Hogarth and family, part 1 (pancakes)

I walked into their home and within seconds, Finn was showing me his toys and Maggie gave me a bit of pancake. I felt like I'd known these guys forever in the best way possible, and it was super lovely. I've been following the incredibly talented Emily Hogarth on instagram for years, so taking photos of her and her family in their super gorgeous home was the biggest treat ever. I took way too many (you would have done the same I'm sure) so this is the first of two blog posts.

A winter family mini session with cousins in Bruntsfield Links

It was down and dirty and quick and crazy and cold, and lots of fun. This session consisted of two sisters, their husbands and all their kids, who clearly get along quite well. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, I’m always happy to do a mini mini session if you’re happy to trek to my neighbourhood.

Ooh it was cold, it was. And wet. But we got some super lovely family photos of these guys just being a family. It was quick. And it was easy. Mini sessions are great because I take a lotttt of photos in a short amount of time, so everyone wins. If you want some photos of your family but don’t have a lot of time (or energy!), I’m your photographer!

Let’s celebrate! Big birthday at-home photography session in Edinburgh

This gorgeous family hired me to come up and take some posed and candid photos on dad’s big BIG birthday. What a great idea - we got some lovely posed photos of the four of them and loads of photos, both inside and out, as the rest of their family arrived for the festivities…

Embracing autumn with some football and extended-family photos in The Meadows

As a photographer in Edinburgh, I end up spending a lot of time in various parks around town so I often suggest bringing a football or a frisbee with you to your photo session -- when your kids are a little older it give them something to focus on other than be photographed! And it allows your kids to just be kids and play a bit, with each other and with you.

Edinburgh family photo goals - when your jumpers coordinate with the autumn foliage

What a lovely family, and such a joy to photograph.. And my favourite part was when they let the dogs out! This was a 20 minute autumn mini session - I can really take a lot of photos in a short amount of time, so it’s ideal if you have a baby. Even more ideal if you can colour-coordinate like these guys did - swoon.

Lesley is the loveliest person, and one of the strongest people I’ve met as well, in every way possible. Genuinely. We do a bootcamp together, and it was so great to meet her ginormous family and get a few photos of them enjoying the Autumn weather together.

Portraits of a cute family with a dog called Steve in East Lothian

It was peak autumn, in one of the prettiest places I’ve seen in this area, and the light was perfect. Three gorgeous children, two pretty gorgeous parents, and bulldog called Steve. Steve! I just loved every minute of this photo session and was equally psyched to discover Gosford Estate in Longniddry - what a place!

Edinburgh photos of a big little 80th birthday party

This is the first time I’ve been hired to take photos at a party but what a great idea! This was a super special 80th birthday celebration where a big family who lives all over the country got together to celebrate. Everyone was in the photos, with lots of candid shots and a few more formal portraits, and no one had to fuss with a camera phone and play photographer, because they had one….

Edinburgh and Lothians at home baby photographer

All babies are beautiful, but this one was something special. Although actually mom and dad are gorgeous so it’s really no wonder. Jenny and Joe are friends of mine, and I popped over to their new home one morning, had a cuppa and took some photos of the three of them.
